New in 2026: Quebec is tightening registration. Two proofs of principal residence are required at registration and renewal, and the owner's or condo syndicate's consent will have to be renewed every year (measures announced March 25, 2026, in force April 9 and September 1, 2026).

Allowed for stays of 2 to 31 days on most of the territory.

Secondary residence or chalet

Tourist residence allowed everywhere except URB, VIL and VILC zones, for stays of 2 to 31 days. To confirm in the bylaw.

In every case: CITQ registration number required and 3.5% lodging tax applies.
